2013 Sports Diary - End of year analysis:
- Events, Miles and Euros!
Introduction:
46 events, 4,698 miles and €751.... That is the average year of an Irish sports fan! The analysis enclosed reviews the Sports events attended from a number of perspectives.
Events and Spend analysis by Sport:
Gaelic Football accounted for 65% of all sports events attended, but accounted for 54% of the spend. Soccer accounted for 9% of the sports events attended but 17% of the spend. Interestingly, the % spend on the other 4 sports was almost directly proportional to the % events attended in that sport.

The average spend per sporting event was €16.33. On average Gaelic Football was the cheapest per event at €13.47, while Soccer was most expensive at €31.75.

Events and Spend analysis by Month:
January, March and October were the busiest months with April surprisingly the quietest month with only a single sporting event attended. This is probably explained with the end of the National Leagues.
Spending on Sporting events averaged at €62.50 per month but saw a considerable increase in November, this was primarily related to the visit to the Emirates for Arsenal v Liverpool.

Geographical Analysis:
10 Irish counties and 2 overseas venues were visited:

Summary:
From the first event in Tom Clifford Park on a cold Saturday January afternoon, to the last in Thomond Park almost 12 months later, 2013 was a very busy year on the sports front. Picking the best events based on a number of different criteria has been a very difficult task, but we have decided on the following:
-
Best sporting event: All Ireland Football Semi Final - Kerry v Dublin
-
Best value for money: Munster Senior Hurling Final - Limerick v Cork (€20)
-
Most memorable: Watching Arsenal v Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, London
Roll on 2014!!
